Senior Software Engineer

About the role

The Senior Software Engineer provides development expertise across the software development streams of the organisation (ISA) and is responsible for implementing and automating the quality of its software products. The role also supports the delivery of software projects and the adoption of emerging technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver software products and components, contributing to the technology stack, design, development, deployment and automated testing.
• Help translate business needs into technical implementations in line with ISA's architectural principles, working with the product team, project managers and IT solutions managers.
• Review technical documentation, user guides, training manuals and system specifications, and give feedback on architectural designs.
• Identify the tools and languages needed for design execution and ensure user interfaces match requirements.
• Adopt best practices, new trends and emerging technologies together with cross-functional teams, and implement agreed remedial and preventative measures.
• Support the team in meeting service levels, provide status reports to specialists, users and managers, and share knowledge proactively.
• Maintain good working relationships with project managers, product, operations, governance and enterprise development teams, and take part in technology decisions.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in IT Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent.
• Fluent in English.
• At least 3 years in software development, with at least 2 years in a DevOps Engineer capacity.
• Experience designing solutions for IaaS, PaaS and SaaS setups, and in cloud environments.
• Knowledge of production operations and site reliability engineering principles.

Required skills

• DevOps principles and the CI/CD pipeline, from source code management through build, test automation to production deployment.
• Core system configuration and systems testing.
• Strong object-oriented programming concepts and strong development skills in one or more popular programming languages.
• Data analysis, problem solving and technical leadership.
