Associate Engineer - Platform SRE

About the role

LSEG is looking for an Associate Engineer, Platform SRE in Colombo to support, maintain, automate and continuously improve Microsoft Windows server and platform infrastructure across its environments. The role focuses on platform reliability, operational support, automation, monitoring, security and continuous improvement across on-premises, hybrid-cloud and public-cloud settings, applying ITIL/ITSM practices and using PowerShell, Python and AI-enabled tools.

Key responsibilities

• Support and maintain Microsoft Windows Server platforms in production and non-production environments, with Level 2 support and Level 3 troubleshooting contribution.
• Investigate incidents, perform root-cause analysis and work toward permanent remediation.
• Troubleshoot Windows technologies such as Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, Windows Update, SCCM/MECM, RDS and related services.
• Perform OS patching, security updates and compliance using HCL BigFix and SCCM/MECM, and support vulnerability remediation with Qualys and CrowdStrike.
• Monitor infrastructure health, availability, performance and alerts with enterprise monitoring and event-management tools.
• Develop PowerShell and Python automation for operational tasks, health checks, remediation, patching, reporting and platform lifecycle, and turn repetitive manual work into reusable workflows.
• Use GitLab, Git, CI/CD, Rundeck and orchestration tools, and AI-enabled tools, to support automation and deployments.
• Use ServiceNow to manage incidents, problems, changes, requests and operational activities.
• Support VMware, Hyper-V and physical servers, as well as Microsoft Azure, Azure Arc and AWS-hosted Windows infrastructure.
• Maintain technical documentation, runbooks and knowledge articles, and take part in upgrades, migrations and cloud-migration initiatives.
• Participate in shift, weekend and on-call support where required.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• At least 1 year of relevant experience in Windows Server administration, infrastructure support, platform engineering, SRE, cloud operations or a similar environment.
• Good understanding of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS and Windows administration.
• Experience with ITIL/ITSM practices, especially Incident, Problem and Change Management.
• Exposure to ServiceNow or a similar ITSM platform.
• Desirable: SCCM/MECM, SCOM, VMware vSphere/Hyper-V, GitLab, CI/CD, Rundeck, BigPanda/Datadog, Rubrik, REST API and workflow automation.

Required skills

• Practical scripting or automation with PowerShell; exposure to or interest in Python.
• Good troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work in a production-support environment, document technical activities and work independently within a team.
