Senior QA Automation Engineer

About the role

A remote Senior QA Automation Engineer position is advertised by Bridge Talent, based in Sri Lanka. The role suits an experienced engineer with 3-5 years of experience and strong hands-on expertise in UI automation with Playwright and/or Selenium, able to build scalable, maintainable automation solutions and work closely with development and QA teams in an Agile/Scrum environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain UI automation frameworks using Playwright, with Page Object Model and modular approaches.
• Develop automation solutions in TypeScript and/or Java following clean coding practices.
• Run automated tests with Selenium, Playwright, TestNG and Cucumber/BDD, and API tests with REST Assured and/or Playwright.
• Integrate and optimise test suites in CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and/or GitLab CI, and use GitLab and/or GitHub for source control.
• Use Maven and SonarQube for builds and code quality, and cloud test runners such as Sauce Labs when needed.
• Reduce test flakiness, analyse failures and carry out root cause analysis.
• Contribute to automation strategy, test coverage and shift-left testing, and mentor junior QA engineers.
• Review requirements for automation opportunities and explore AI/ML-driven testing approaches.

Required profile

• 3-5 years of QA experience focused on test automation.
• Strong hands-on experience with Playwright and UI automation frameworks.
• Experience with TestNG and/or Cucumber/BDD, and API automation with REST Assured and/or Playwright.
• Practical experience with GitLab and/or GitHub, and CI/CD integration, preferably with Jenkins or GitLab CI.

Required skills

• Strong working knowledge of TypeScript.
• Page Object Model and modular automation frameworks.
• CI/CD integration (Jenkins, GitLab CI).
