Senior Engineer - Managed Services (Telecom Billing)

About the role

A Senior Engineer is needed to support and maintain telecom billing systems, keeping daily operations running smoothly and resolving technical issues and service requests quickly. The role sits in the Billing Operations Team, reporting directly to the Team Lead, and calls for hands-on expertise in Huawei CBS, Linux/Unix, C++, Python, billing configurations and telecom protocols.

Key responsibilities

• Handle assigned issue tickets and Service Requests (SRs), troubleshooting and carrying out the required activities within the billing system
• Manage daily operational tasks for assigned billing modules accurately and efficiently
• Troubleshoot issues and process SRs according to documented Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
• Suggest improvements to the team's troubleshooting approach and SR execution
• Resolve and close all tickets and SRs within agreed SLAs
• Monitor the billing system with designated tools and SOPs, reporting alarms and abnormalities to the Infrastructure Team
• Run sanity checks after patch deployments and investigate defects found during Production Verification Testing
• Identify recurring issues and report them to the Team Lead
• Keep up technical knowledge through online platforms, forums and internal knowledge sharing

Required profile

• 3+ years of experience in a related field
• University degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering or a related field
• Team player who can manage people and teams effectively
• Good sense of urgency, as tickets and SRs are prioritized by severity
• Strong problem-solving skills; positive, confident, flexible and adaptable

Required skills

• Hands-on billing system configuration and writing CRLs
• Linux/Unix administration
• C++ and Python for code-level changes on Huawei CBS platforms
• Deep understanding of CAP, DCC, SS7, SMPP, VoIP, Sy, Gx and Gy interfaces
• Billing call and data flows, debug log analysis, and billing modules such as Debt Collector, AR and GL
• Integration of billing modules with third-party systems and impact assessment
