Head of Technical Operations

About the role

We are looking for a senior professional to lead the technical management, engineering, maintenance, safety and regulatory compliance of our marine and tanker fleet. The Head of Technical Operations will ensure safe, efficient and compliant operation of oil, product, chemical and bunker tankers across the region.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee technical management and safe operation of oil, product, chemical and bunker tankers.
• Manage vessel maintenance, dry‑docking, repairs, surveys, inspections and technical budgets.
• Ensure reliability of engines, machinery, cargo systems, pumps, pipelines and other critical equipment.
• Maintain compliance with SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM, ISPS, OCIMF, SIRE and Classification Society requirements.
• Ensure adherence to Sri Lankan maritime regulations and authorities such as DGMS, MEPA, SLPA and Customs.
• Coordinate with shipyards, surveyors, suppliers, technical teams and vessel crews.
• Handle technical emergencies, incident investigations, risk controls and corrective actions.
• Lead technical staff and collaborate with operations, commercial, procurement, HSSEQ and finance teams.

Required profile

• Degree or recognised qualification in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture or related field.
• Marine Engineer Certificate of Competency; Class 1 Marine Engineer qualification preferred.
• Minimum 10 years’ experience in marine engineering and ship technical management.
• Proven experience in tanker management, dry‑docking, vessel inspections, SIRE/vetting, audits, budgeting and cost control.
• Strong knowledge of international maritime standards and Sri Lankan maritime and port regulations.
