GSE Mechanic (Panel Beater)

About the role

SriLankan is hiring a GSE Mechanic (Panel Beater) in Katunayake to assist in body repair and maintenance of aircraft ground support equipment (GSE), vehicles and other equipment, working independently or under the direction of the Supervisor/Engineer. The position is on a fixed-term contract.

Key responsibilities

• Install and repair side mirrors, windshield wipers, door winders, radiators, seats and other vehicle body components to meet factory condition.
• Repair damaged or faulty parts by straightening, welding, machining or hand-making new metal parts, restoring vehicle and equipment bodies to factory condition.
• Use oxy, arc, TIG and MIG welding, hand-fitting or machining to replace or repair faulty parts.
• Maintain good housekeeping and work safely to avoid damaging equipment, tools, components, engines and accessories.
• Take part in disassembly, repair, assembly, testing and inspection of components, escalating issues to the superior, Senior Technician or Technician as needed.
• Verify vehicle and GSE serviceability through test drives, and adjust vehicle positioning and controls so equipment and vehicles are released on time.

Required profile

• 6 passes at GCE O/L with 4 credits, including English, plus a Panel Beater trade qualification of more than 2 years' duration, or an NVQ Level 4 Panel Beater certificate of more than 2 years' duration.
• Light/heavy vehicle driving licence.
• Upper age limit of 30 years as of 05 November 2026.
• Sri Lankan citizen.
