Category Manager / Assistant Category Manager

About the role

We are looking for a strategic, commercially‑driven Category Manager or Assistant Category Manager to lead product categories on our fast‑growing e‑grocery platform. Reporting to senior commercial leadership, you will own the P&L, supplier relationships, margin optimisation and assortment planning for assigned categories.

Key responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end commercial performance, sales budgets and gross profit margins for e‑grocery categories.
• Lead high‑level negotiations with brand owners, distributors and suppliers to secure competitive pricing, rebates and promotional funding.
• Analyse customer buying behaviour and market trends to expand range, launch new SKUs and de‑list slow‑moving items.
• Design and execute digital promotional calendars, bundle offers and seasonal campaigns in partnership with marketing and growth teams.
• Collaborate with procurement, inventory and fulfilment teams to ensure product availability and optimise stock turnover.
• Leverage e‑commerce analytics and market intelligence to refine pricing and shelf‑velocity.
• Mentor junior category executives and guide supplier onboarding.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Supply Chain, Economics or a related field.
• 4–12 years of progressive experience in category management, modern‑trade purchasing or commercial procurement within FMCG, retail or e‑commerce.
• Proven track record in category P&L management, vendor negotiation, margin analysis and promotional strategy.
• Strong analytical capability with advanced data‑analysis skills.

• Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, complex formulas, financial modelling).

• Experience with ERP or inventory‑management systems.
