Barista – Café & Tea Specialist

About the role

Tea Avenue is seeking a full‑time Barista to join its Colombo café. You will be responsible for preparing high‑quality teas, coffees and other beverages while delivering friendly, attentive service to guests.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and serve a variety of teas, coffees and specialty drinks, ensuring consistent quality and presentation.
• Assist with food preparation for cakes, sandwiches and light meals.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and adhere to food safety and hygiene standards.
• Greet guests, take orders, answer menu questions and provide excellent customer service.
• Operate café equipment, handle cash and POS transactions accurately.
• Collaborate with team members to support smooth café operations.

Required profile

• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Barista experience with espresso‑based drinks and basic tea knowledge.
• Clear communication abilities.
• Food preparation skills and understanding of basic hygiene practices.
• Prior experience in a café, restaurant or hospitality setting (preferred).
• Ability to stand for extended periods and work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• Reliable time‑management, attention to detail and a collaborative mindset.
