Trainee Associate - Freight & Logistics

About the role

EFL Global is hiring a Trainee Associate in its Shared Services department in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The role covers freight and logistics operations such as handling shipment pre-alerts, bills of lading, manifests and invoices, together with supporting operational finance activities. It is a full-time position on a fixed-term contract of 1 year.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process shipment pre-alerts, create jobs in the system and route incoming information to the right teams.
• Update Master Bill of Lading (MBL) and House Bill of Lading (HBL) records and upload shipping documents.
• Generate arrival notices and manifests, forward them to customers and send pre-alerts according to SOPs.
• Generate import and export invoices for agents and customers, checking rates against tariffs.
• Support operational finance: invoicing, cost posting and recording overseas and local costs.
• Create creditor journals to support accurate cost recording.
• Maintain communication with agents, customers and internal stakeholders and follow SOPs with data accuracy.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or partial qualifications in Logistics, Supply Chain Management or a related field.
• Experience in the freight and logistics industry is an added advantage.
• Attention to detail and analytical skills focused on data accuracy.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills; teamwork and self-motivation.
• Willingness to work on a roster basis, including day, night and weekend shifts.

Required skills

• Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• ERP systems or other operational systems are an added advantage.
