Operations Trainee – Air Cargo

About the role

We are looking for an Operations Trainee to join our air cargo team in Colombo. This entry‑level position offers a solid foundation in international freight operations within a globally connected carrier.

Key responsibilities

• Acknowledge booking requests from the Sales team within defined service‑level timelines.
• Search and identify suitable flight options based on cargo type, delivery deadlines and cost efficiency.
• Reserve cargo space with airlines and general sales agents and generate booking confirmations with flight and Air Waybill details.
• Update internal systems and dashboards with accurate booking status and maintain shift handover logs.
• Escalate urgent or delayed bookings, confirm cargo acceptance and loading, and rebook missed or off‑loaded cargo promptly.
• Track in‑transit shipments, send pre‑alerts to transit stations and destination stakeholders, and confirm final delivery to Sales and Operations teams.
• Coordinate with airlines, GSAs, warehouse teams and customs as required.

Required profile

• Proficiency in reading, writing and speaking English.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Previous exposure to air freight operations is an advantage.

• Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Google Workspace (Gmail, Google Sheets, Google Docs).
