Category Executive – Q Commerce

About the role

The Category Executive supports the growth, commercial performance, and assortment optimisation of product ranges within Q Commerce. Working closely with external suppliers and internal cross‑functional teams, the role helps deliver trade plans that create consumer value and meet overall business objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Source and onboard new suppliers to expand the product footprint across key segments such as oil, spices, confectionery, and general grocery.
• Support the development and execution of category trade plans, governing sales strategies, promotional calendars, pricing structures, and product assortments.
• Monitor market insights, consumer trends, and performance data to recommend range adjustments, new product launches, or discontinuation of slow‑moving items.
• Partner with operations and supply‑chain teams to resolve stock discrepancies, logistical bottlenecks, and delivery issues.
• Assist the Category Manager in routine supplier negotiations to secure optimal base pricing, volume discounts, and promotional budgets.
• Analyse sales figures and shopper data to refine category strategies, improve shelf velocity, and maximise gross profit margins.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Management or a related commercial field.
• 1‑3 years of experience in category management, retail purchasing, procurement or FMCG operations.
• Strong analytical mindset with proven ability to interpret sales reports and turn data into actionable insights.
• High proficiency with Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables) and practical experience using enterprise ERP/POS systems.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship‑building skills.
• Demonstrated decision‑making, planning and problem‑solving abilities in a fast‑paced environment.
