Assistant Transport Manager

About the role

The Assistant Transport Manager will support the efficient operation of the transport and fleet functions, ensuring smooth coordination between drivers, garages, and internal teams.

Key responsibilities

• Manage vehicle fleet maintenance, servicing, repairs and spare‑parts purchasing.
• Monitor vehicle conditions, insurance, and licence renewals.
• Allocate vehicles and drivers for daily operations and delivery schedules.
• Coordinate closely with sales and delivery teams to ensure seamless transport activities.
• Supervise drivers and helpers, handling attendance, punctuality, tours, and leave management.
• Track fuel consumption and transport expenses, identifying irregularities.
• Oversee GPS tracking systems and vehicle movement monitoring.
• Maintain accurate transport documentation, repair records and monthly reports.
• Ensure preventive maintenance for lorries, company vehicles and bikes.
• Negotiate with suppliers and service providers to optimise operational costs.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in transport or fleet management.
• Hands‑on experience managing lorries and company vehicle fleets.
• Good knowledge of vehicle mechanics, maintenance, tyres, oils, filters and spare parts.
• Familiarity with GPS tracking systems and transport monitoring tools.
• Strong computer literacy, especially in Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent organisational, reporting, communication and supervision skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and coordinate with multiple departments.
• Valid driving licence is an advantage.
