Senior Quality Assurance Engineer - EDI Integration

About the role

eFl Global is hiring a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer in Colombo, Sri Lanka, within its Information Technology department. The role owns the end-to-end design, development and maintenance of EDI parsers and generators across EDIFACT, ANSI X12, XML, JSON and flat-file formats, and leads troubleshooting of production incidents.

Key responsibilities

• Own the design, development and maintenance of EDI parsers and generators across EDIFACT, ANSI X12, XML, JSON and flat-file formats.
• Lead troubleshooting of production incidents by tracing failed messages across transport, parsing, mapping and downstream systems, and implement permanent fixes.
• Translate customer mapping specifications into configurations and code, and validate integration flows before go-live.
• Review designs and code from mid-level engineers and set team standards for error handling, idempotency, reprocessing and observability.
• Use AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot or Cursor to improve development, testing, documentation and troubleshooting, and build reusable internal tools for mapping, failure analysis and regression testing.
• Validate AI-generated outputs and share AI development practices, prompts, patterns and guardrails across the team.
• Improve workflows including CI/CD, automated testing, release processes and monitoring, and mentor engineers on EDI knowledge.
• Work with Product Management, Backend, DevOps, Platform teams and customers through development and go-live.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Management, Engineering or a related field.
• 8+ years of backend or integration engineering experience, including at least 6 years of hands-on EDI experience.
• Strong root-cause analysis and problem-solving skills, strong judgment and accountability with AI-assisted tools, and excellent communication and mentoring abilities.

Required skills

• Deep knowledge of at least one major EDI standard such as EDIFACT or ANSI X12.
• Proficiency in at least one backend language such as Python, Java, Node.js or C#.
• Strong SQL and hands-on experience with AS2, SFTP, REST APIs and message queues.
• Advantageous: GitHub Enterprise, Jira, Confluence, Jenkins Pipeline, Ansible, AWS, freight forwarding, 3PL or supply chain experience.
