Mechanical Design Intern

About the role

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Intern to join our industrial robotics and automation project team in Panadura. This paid internship provides hands‑on experience in mechanical design, 3D modelling, and prototyping within real‑world automation projects.

Key responsibilities

• Develop mechanical designs for automation and robotic systems, ensuring functional performance and reliability.
• Create detailed 3D models and assembly designs using SolidWorks to support system integration.
• Design machines and robotic mechanisms, focusing on motion, load handling, and safety.
• Produce and update manufacturing drawings that translate concepts into production‑ready documentation.
• Support mechanical development and prototyping activities, assisting with part fabrication and testing.
• Collaborate with the engineering team on practical automation projects, contributing ideas and technical solutions.

Required profile

• Degree or higher qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Willingness to learn and actively participate in practical engineering projects.

Required skills

• Knowledge of mechanical design principles and best practices.
• Experience or familiarity with SolidWorks for 3D modelling and assembly design.
• Understanding of machine and mechanism design concepts.
• Ability to prepare and interpret manufacturing drawings.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
