Founding Software Engineer – Backend

About the role

LedgerPro is building an AI‑first accounting platform that replaces legacy bookkeeping tools. As a Founding Software Engineer you will design and own the backend that powers the AI, handles real customer money, and supports multiple tenants across several countries.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain a highly available, distributed backend system.
• Develop data models and schema changes that are backward‑compatible and safe for existing customers.
• Implement robust authorization layers and threat‑model features to protect tenant data.
• Ensure financial data integrity – no floating‑point errors, safe migrations, and strict consistency.
• Scale the system from a few tenants to thousands while maintaining performance and reliability.

Required profile

• Backend engineer with a founder‑mindset, able to turn vague requirements into shipped, tested solutions.
• Experience reasoning about distributed systems, consistency, partitioning, and failure recovery.
• Strong focus on correctness, security, and data integrity.
• Comfortable working on end‑to‑end product ownership, not just adding endpoints.
