Distillery Engineer

About the role

Rockland Distilleries is seeking an experienced Distillery Engineer to lead safety, reliability, efficiency and environmental performance at its Marawila plant. This full‑time, on‑site position offers hands‑on responsibility for process equipment, boiler and steam systems, utilities, wastewater treatment, biogas recovery and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure reliable operation of distillation equipment, boilers, steam systems, pumps, piping and plant utilities.
• Develop and improve preventive and predictive maintenance programmes.
• Lead root‑cause analysis for recurring equipment failures and operational issues.
• Support reliable operation of wastewater treatment and biogas recovery systems.
• Monitor and improve energy, fuel, steam, electricity and water efficiency.
• Manage maintenance notifications, work orders, asset records and related activities through SAP Plant Maintenance.
• Support CAPEX projects, contractor management, installation and commissioning.
• Maintain high safety and compliance standards across all engineering activities.
• Provide technical leadership to the maintenance team and collaborate with Production, Quality, EHS, Procurement, Finance and Management.

Required profile

• Engineering degree (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Process or related field).
• Minimum 3 years experience in process manufacturing, preferably in distilleries, food & beverage, chemical or other continuous‑process industries.
• Strong knowledge of boilers, utilities and maintenance engineering.
• Experience with pumps, rotating equipment, piping and troubleshooting.
• Safety‑focused with ability to work effectively in a continuous production environment.
• Experience with SAP PM, PLC/VFD systems, wastewater treatment, biogas or CAPEX projects is an advantage.
• Prior experience in distilleries, breweries, food, beverage, fermentation or similar industries preferred.
