Automation Engineer – Manufacturing Automation

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Automation Engineer to join our world‑class manufacturing environment in Sri Lanka. You will design, validate, and implement automation and electrical solutions, ensuring robustness, reliability, and compliance with engineering standards.

Key responsibilities

• Support quality systems, risk assessments, FMEA, design reviews and non‑conformance management.
• Conduct feasibility studies and evaluate engineering solutions based on cost, schedule, risk and performance.
• Design, implement and monitor automation and electrical engineering solutions with cross‑functional teams.
• Participate in equipment installation, commissioning, start‑up, validation and performance optimisation.
• Manage engineering change requests, equipment upgrades, obsolescence and compliance documentation.
• Maintain technical records and engineering documentation for automation systems.
• Provide troubleshooting support and drive continuous improvement of automation performance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in automation or electrical engineering, preferably in a manufacturing setting.
• Experience leading projects or supporting project teams is a plus.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to perform risk analysis and feasibility studies.

Required skills

• PLC programming (Rockwell/Allen‑Bradley preferred, Siemens exposure a plus).
• HMI programming, configuration and communications.
• Automation software platforms and motion‑control technologies.
• Robotics integration and equipment validation.
• Electrical engineering design and documentation.
