Mechanical Supervisor

About the role

The Mechanical Supervisor will lead the mechanical maintenance team at a manufacturing facility in Colombo, ensuring that all mechanical systems operate safely, efficiently, and in line with client standards and Sri Lankan regulations. The role combines hands‑on technical oversight with people management to drive reliability across boiler, steam, compressed‑air, and vacuum systems.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise mechanical technicians and service‑provider personnel, planning daily work, conducting direction‑setting meetings, and monitoring performance.
• Oversee operation and maintenance of two 10,000 lb boilers (Stone Danks and Forbes Marshall), steam distribution, condensate recovery, and flash‑steam recovery systems.
• Maintain furnace fuel‑oil (FFO) distribution, feed‑water systems, water‑treatment plants, and keep accurate boiler logbooks.
• Manage main site compressors (three units), air dryer performance, and compressed‑air network reliability.
• Supervise the centralized vacuum plant, ensuring proper operation of vacuum pumps and related equipment.
• Coordinate annual boiler inspections, certifications, and routine water sampling/testing.
• Ensure staffing levels, skill coverage across shifts, and compliance with safety, quality, and operational procedures.

Required profile

• Strong technical expertise in industrial boiler, steam, compressed‑air, and vacuum systems.
• Proven leadership ability to guide a multi‑discipline maintenance team.
• Commitment to safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
• Ability to plan, assign, and monitor daily maintenance activities.

Required skills

• Operation and maintenance of Stone Danks and Forbes Marshall boilers.
• Steam distribution system management, including traps, valves, and pressure gauges.
• Condensate and flash‑steam recovery system upkeep.
• Feed‑water and water‑treatment plant operation.
• Furnace Fuel Oil (FFO) distribution system handling.
• Compressed‑air compressor (units 1‑3) operation and air‑dryer maintenance.
• Vacuum plant supervision.
• Logbook maintenance, water sampling, and testing procedures.
