About the role
The Assistant Manager – HR Employee Relations will partner closely with employees, line managers and HR stakeholders to proactively manage employee relations matters, resolve workplace concerns and ensure consistent, fair and compliant people practices across the organization.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and manage employee relations matters across the organization.
- Handle employee grievances, disciplinary matters and workplace concerns with fairness, confidentiality and sound judgement.
- Lead investigations into employee relations cases and recommend appropriate actions.
- Partner with line managers and HR Business Partners to resolve people‑related issues effectively.
- Ensure consistent application of HR policies, procedures and disciplinary processes.
- Provide guidance on Sri Lankan labour law, employment practices and employee relations matters.
- Identify recurring ER trends and provide data‑driven insights and recommendations to HR leadership.
- Maintain accurate documentation, records and governance of employee relations cases.
- Support employee engagement and workplace culture initiatives.
- Coach managers on effective people management and handling challenging employee situations.
- Support audits, compliance requirements and continuous improvement of ER processes.
Required profile
- A degree in Human Resources, Business Management, Law or a related discipline.
- Professional HR qualification is an advantage.
- 4–6 years of relevant HR experience with strong exposure to Employee Relations.
- Good knowledge of Sri Lankan labour laws and employment practices.
- Hands‑on experience in managing grievances, disciplinary inquiries and workplace investigations.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and conflict‑resolution skills.
- Strong judgement, discretion and ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential matters.
- Confident stakeholder management skills with ability to engage at all levels.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving and decision‑making capabilities.
- A balanced approach – firm on principles, fair in judgement and empathetic towards people.
