Assistant Accountant

About the role

The company is a leading renewable energy platform in Sri Lanka, managing high‑impact assets across the island. They are looking for a meticulous Assistant Accountant to maintain accurate financial records and support finance operations across multiple project and management companies.

Key responsibilities

• Record accounts payable and expense postings in the ERP system for both management and project entities, ensuring timely internal reporting.
• Prepare monthly bank and escrow reconciliations and support revenue distribution calculations.
• Monitor petty‑cash expenditures, verify supporting documentation, and process reimbursements.
• Prepare tax schedules and calculate liabilities for VAT, SSCL, WHT, and income tax, supporting filings via the IRD RAMIS platform.
• Produce general‑ledger schedules and reconciliations for month‑end close and quarterly group reporting.
• Maintain audit‑ready financial records for internal, statutory, and external audits.

Required profile

• Full qualification in AAT or part‑qualified CA/ACCA.
• 1‑5 years of accounting experience in a commercial organization or reputable audit firm.
• Working knowledge of ERP accounting systems; experience with Microsoft Dynamics is a plus.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Practical exposure to local tax compliance (VAT, SSCL, WHT, income tax) and IRD RAMIS filing.
• High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to meet strict reporting deadlines.
