Senior Barista – Specialty Coffee & Matcha

About the role

The Senior Barista and Operations role is a full‑time, on‑site position in Colombo, responsible for leading daily beverage operations and delivering a high‑quality customer experience that aligns with Divide’s minimalist, fast‑coffee model.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare specialty coffee and matcha drinks to precise recipes, ensuring consistency and speed.
• Maintain espresso machines, grinders and other equipment, performing routine cleaning and minor repairs.
• Manage inventory, track stock levels and reduce waste while keeping the bar and customer areas spotless.
• Guide and support barista team members, train new staff and uphold service standards during peak hours.
• Engage with guests, promote menu items and contribute to the visual standards that make locations social‑media ready.
• Collaborate with store leadership to implement operational improvements and support brand growth.

Required profile

• Strong barista expertise, including specialty coffee and matcha preparation, espresso extraction, milk texturing and latte art.
• Experience in café or hospitality operations with cash handling and POS system use.
• Leadership capability to guide a small team, delegate tasks and maintain quality standards.
• Excellent customer service skills and the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, compact environment.
• Prior experience as a senior barista or shift leader in a specialty coffee shop is strongly preferred.
• Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene practices; relevant certifications are a plus.
• Availability for a full‑time schedule, including weekends and peak hours.
