Senior Accountant – UK Accounts & Tax

About the role

We are seeking a technically strong and detail‑oriented Senior Accountant to join our growing UK accounting and taxation team based in Mount Lavinia. The role involves preparing and reviewing UK accounting and tax assignments while supervising junior staff to ensure quality, compliance and timely delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Review bookkeeping records to ensure completeness, accuracy, proper classification and reconciliation.
• Review VAT returns and supporting reconciliations before submission.
• Prepare statutory accounts in accordance with FRS 102 and FRS 105.
• Prepare Corporation Tax computations and CT600 returns.
• Prepare Self‑Assessment tax returns and supporting calculations.
• Review monthly and quarterly management accounts, including variance analysis and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Supervise and review work prepared by junior team members, providing feedback and technical guidance.
• Liaise with clients and internal stakeholders to resolve accounting, tax and compliance queries.

Required profile

• Professional qualification such as ACCA, ACA, CIMA, AAT or equivalent; part‑qualified candidates with strong UK experience may be considered.
• Extensive experience reviewing bookkeeping records, VAT returns and preparing statutory accounts under FRS 102/105.
• Hands‑on experience preparing Corporation Tax computations, CT600 and Self‑Assessment returns.
• Proven ability to review management accounts, reconciliations and supervise junior staff.
• Excellent understanding of UK accounting standards and tax compliance requirements.
