Grocery & Retail Account Manager

About the role

We are seeking a Grocery & Retail Account Manager to oversee and grow a portfolio of grocery and retail merchant partners for a key global client. The role blends account management, sales, data analysis, and operations with a focus on relationship building and business growth.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain strong relationships with grocery and retail merchants.
• Understand merchant needs and identify opportunities to expand their businesses.
• Manage a portfolio of merchants and achieve monthly sales and performance targets.
• Monitor key metrics such as revenue, orders, merchant investment, retention, and customer satisfaction.
• Use data and business insights to spot gaps and growth opportunities.
• Sell and upsell advertising, promotional, and other marketing solutions.
• Develop strategies to retain merchants and resolve issues proactively.
• Stay updated on market trends and competitor activity.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
• 4–6 years of experience in Account Management, with at least 2 years in Consumer Tech considered an advantage.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship‑management skills.
• Comfortable working with data and making data‑led decisions.
• Strong commercial and problem‑solving mindset.
• Fluent in English and Sinhala; Tamil is an added advantage.
• Proactive, hands‑on, target‑driven and comfortable in a fast‑paced environment.
