Software Engineer III – Cloud & Full‑Stack Development

About the role

Join Pearson as a Software Engineer III to design, develop, and maintain high‑quality applications running on private and public cloud platforms. You will lead technical decisions, ensure security and compliance, and drive continuous improvement across the software lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable, resilient solutions aligned with R&D objectives.
• Provide technical leadership and roadmap assurance to engineering teams.
• Raise the bar on code quality through strong engineering standards.
• Enforce security, accessibility, compatibility, and other non‑functional requirements.
• Automate functional and non‑functional testing across multiple layers.
• Enhance CI/CD pipelines for frequent, low‑impact releases.
• Embed observability, monitor performance, and resolve production issues.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computing, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and algorithmic skills.
• Passion for innovative, practical solutions and staying current with industry trends.

Required skills

• Back‑end development with Node.js, Java, and Spring Boot.
• Experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB.
• Front‑end development using React or Angular.
• Proficiency in CI/CD practices and application monitoring.
• Knowledge of security, accessibility, compatibility, observability, and availability requirements.
• Use of agentic AI tools like GitHub Copilot or Cursor to boost productivity.
