Senior Teacher - Primary

About the role

The Senior Teacher – Primary will lead the teaching centre’s professional development and ensure high‑quality English language instruction for primary learners. This senior position combines line‑management of teaching staff with the design and delivery of continuous learning programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Provide line management, coaching, observation and mentoring to teaching staff.
• Support staff wellbeing, recruit and onboard new teachers, and act as a trusted contact for teachers, students and parents.
• Design, deliver and evaluate continuing professional development (CPD) programmes and training sessions.
• Represent the British Council at professional conferences and share best practices internally and externally.
• Collaborate with Teaching Operations and Customer Services to implement teaching standards, product guidelines and new course materials.
• Handle academic enquiries, complaints and contribute to product and service evaluation.
• Embed safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) and support for SEND learners.

Required profile

• Experienced English language teaching professional with a passion for developing teachers.
• Strong leadership and performance‑development skills.
• Up‑to‑date knowledge of ELT developments and innovative teaching practices.
• Commitment to safeguarding, EDI and SEND inclusion.
• Undergraduate degree and recognised ELT qualifications (CELTA/Trinity TESOL, DELTA/Trinity Diploma or equivalent).
