Life Sciences Subject Matter Expert – Biology (Remote)

About the role

ZettaMine is seeking experienced Life Sciences Subject Matter Experts in Biology for a short‑term AI training and scientific‑reasoning evaluation project. The role is fully remote, full‑time (40 hours per week) with an immediate start. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. with at least three years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with five years of experience.

Key responsibilities

• Design novel, challenging life‑sciences problems that require advanced scientific reasoning and synthesis of experimental data, figures, sequences, and structures.
• Create clear, well‑defined tasks and reference answers that are objectively defensible and reproducible.
• Validate biological claims, calculations, assumptions, and conclusions, and identify ambiguities or alternative valid interpretations.
• Analyze and evaluate AI/LLM‑generated scientific responses, providing feedback to improve model performance.
• Maintain high‑quality output and throughput while incorporating reviewer feedback.

Required profile

• Strong expertise in at least one biological discipline and ability to interpret scientific experiments, data, and evidence.
• Excellent scientific reasoning, analytical, and problem‑solving skills, with the capacity to construct precise, self‑contained scientific problems.
• Experience with advanced experimental interpretation and research‑oriented problem solving; experience evaluating LLM‑generated responses is a plus.
• Ph.D. + 3 years or Master’s + 5 years of relevant life‑sciences experience; post‑doctoral or advanced research experience preferred.
