Barista Trainer

About the role

Based in Colombo, the Barista Trainer will design and deliver hands‑on training covering coffee theory, brewing techniques, equipment handling and café operations. Working closely with café managers and the roasting team, the trainer ensures consistent quality, hospitality and brand standards across all partner locations.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and deliver comprehensive training programs for new and existing baristas.
• Conduct practical sessions on espresso preparation, coffee extraction, milk texturing, latte art and various brewing methods.
• Teach and reinforce Damn Fine Coffee’s recipes, service procedures and quality expectations.
• Assess barista performance through evaluations, observations and skill assessments, providing constructive feedback.
• Maintain training records, attendance and progress reports.
• Update training materials, guides, checklists and assessment tools.
• Support onboarding of new baristas and ensure competency before independent work.
• Train staff on proper use, cleaning, calibration and basic maintenance of coffee machines, grinders and related equipment.

Required profile

• Strong background in training and development within the coffee or hospitality sector.
• Excellent communication skills for clear instruction and feedback.
• Ability to identify training needs and create tailored learning plans.
