Assistant Manager, Procurement (Direct Sourcing)

About the role

The Assistant Manager, Procurement (Direct Sourcing) supports the Direct Procurement team in end‑to‑end sourcing of packaging materials. The role is responsible for identifying suppliers, negotiating contracts and ensuring timely, cost‑effective delivery aligned with the ordering book.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, assess and select suppliers for packaging materials and place purchase orders.
• Negotiate contracts and agreements to secure favourable terms, pricing and service levels.
• Continuously evaluate vendor performance and develop improvement strategies.
• Develop and implement procurement strategies that deliver cost savings and efficiency.
• Collaborate with department heads to understand procurement requirements and provide tailored solutions.
• Lead the procurement process for the packaging material category and stay updated on market trends.
• Identify cost‑saving opportunities and ensure activities adhere to budget constraints.
• Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and mitigate procurement‑related risks.
• Improve procurement processes, implement best practices and automation tools.
• Collaborate with internal teams such as Marketing, NPD, Manufacturing, Planning and Logistics to plan the monthly procurement cycle.
• Maintain accurate records of transactions, contracts and vendor performance; prepare reports for management.
• Conduct quality inspections and audits to verify packaging materials meet company standards.
