Senior Teacher – Young Learners

About the role

The British Council Sri Lanka is seeking a Senior Teacher for its Young Learners programmes. You will lead classroom delivery, mentor fellow teachers and help shape the quality of English language education across multiple centres.

Key responsibilities

• Provide line‑management, regular observations and performance reviews for teachers, ensuring standards align with British Council expectations.
• Monitor staff well‑being, act as duty officer when required, and support recruitment, induction and mentoring of new teachers.
• Lead and deliver an annual CPD programme, model best classroom practice through demos, development sessions and peer observations.
• Share ELT developments with the team and represent the organisation at conferences.
• Ensure teaching and learning frameworks, safeguarding, EDI and SEND policies are understood and applied.
• Collaborate with operations and customer service to address academic enquiries, pilot new courses and introduce global products.

Required profile

• Undergraduate degree.
• Cambridge CELTA or Trinity Certificate in TESOL.
• Cambridge DELTA, Trinity Diploma in TESOL or an equivalent qualification.
• Proven experience in teacher support, line‑management and delivering professional development.
