Senior Data Engineer – Snowflake + DBT

About the role

Gallagher is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join its Colombo team. You will design and deliver scalable, high‑quality data solutions that enable the business to make informed decisions and support risk‑focused initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes.
• Optimize data warehouse structures and data models for performance and reliability.
• Ensure data quality, security, and compliance with governance standards.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Troubleshoot complex data challenges and drive continuous improvement.

Required profile

• 4+ years of experience in data engineering or a similar role.
• Background in the insurance domain (essential).
• Proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server and SQL.
• Hands‑on experience developing ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Strong knowledge of data warehousing and data modelling concepts.
• Familiarity with data security and compliance standards such as GDPR.
• Experience with Snowflake and related tools (FiveTran, DBT, Dataiku, Collibra) preferred.
• Expertise in Microsoft Azure services (Synapse, Azure DevOps).
• Programming skills in Python and C#.
• Proficiency in Power BI and Microsoft Office 365.
