Senior Data & Backend Engineer

About the role

ChampSoft is seeking a highly experienced Senior Data & Backend Engineer to join its Healthcare Analytics Platform team. The role blends data engineering, database development, and Python backend/API work to deliver reliable, secure, and audit‑ready healthcare data pipelines and services.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain batch and streaming data pipelines for medical and pharmacy claims, eligibility, invoices and related datasets.
• Develop and optimise complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and analytics models on Snowflake, PostgreSQL and Microsoft SQL Server.
• Implement data validation, source‑to‑target reconciliation, and exception‑handling workflows across staging and warehouse layers.
• Monitor production data refreshes, create runbooks, and set up alerting and retry mechanisms.
• Design and deliver production‑grade REST APIs using Python frameworks such as FastAPI or Flask for savings calculations, member profiles, analytics, and operational workflows.
• Optimise database performance, indexing, query execution and warehouse utilisation.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience in data engineering and backend development.
• Strong background working with healthcare data and an understanding of data accuracy, security and auditability requirements.
• Demonstrated ability to design scalable data models and reliable APIs.
• Experience with hybrid work environments and collaborative, engineering‑first teams.
