Senior Data & Backend Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a highly experienced Senior Data & Backend Engineer to join our Healthcare Analytics Platform team. This hybrid role combines data engineering, database development and Python backend/API development to build reliable healthcare data pipelines, analytics‑ready data models, savings‑opportunity engines and secure backend APIs.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain batch and streaming data‑processing pipelines for medical and pharmacy claims, eligibility, invoices and reference pricing using Snowflake, PostgreSQL and Microsoft SQL Server.
• Develop and optimise complex SQL queries, stored procedures, data transformations and analytics models, and implement data validation and reconciliation across source, staging and warehouse layers.
• Create production‑grade REST APIs with Python (FastAPI or Flask) for savings calculations, member profiles, healthcare metrics and evidence drill‑downs, ensuring robust validation, logging and observability.
• Implement versioned business rules, authentication (SSO, RBAC), PHI audit trails and automated unit/integration tests.
• Monitor production pipelines, set up alerting, retry mechanisms and operational runbooks, and troubleshoot performance or data‑quality issues.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional software, backend or data engineering experience, with strong hands‑on Python development.
• Deep expertise in SQL, Snowflake, PostgreSQL and relational database design, plus experience with ETL/ELT pipelines and orchestration tools such as Airflow or SSIS.
• Proven ability to build and maintain reliable data pipelines and secure, high‑performance APIs in a healthcare context.
• Understanding of application and database security, PHI/PII handling, and production monitoring.
