Projects Engineer (2-Year Fixed-Term Contract)

About the role

Michelin is seeking a Projects Engineer on a two‑year fixed‑term contract to lead feasibility studies, machine relocations and engineering improvement projects across its production facilities. The role involves delivering technically viable solutions while balancing cost, schedule, risk and safety requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct feasibility studies for machine relocation, utility modification and engineering improvement projects.
• Plan and execute machine relocation projects, including dismantling, transport, installation, alignment, commissioning and performance verification.
• Perform integration studies with stakeholders to ensure technical compatibility and compliance.
• Manage engineering changes to machinery, layouts and utility systems, maintaining proper documentation and traceability.
• Develop project schedules, risk assessments, method statements and execution plans.
• Apply engineering quality processes such as risk assessments, design reviews and non‑conformity management.
• Oversee installation, commissioning, qualification and validation activities.
• Provide technical support for plant development, capacity expansion and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation, drawings, layouts, reports and As‑Built records.
• Coordinate utility shutdowns, startups, contractor activities and stakeholder communications.
• Identify and implement opportunities to improve equipment reliability, utility efficiency and operational performance.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Automation engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in industrial project management.
• Professional qualification in Project Management is a plus.
• Hands‑on experience with Microsoft Project.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Sinhala.
• Ability to work effectively in a cross‑functional environment and manage multiple priorities.
