Junior Category Executive – Grocery

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Junior Category Executive to support our grocery category at Lassana.com. This role offers hands‑on experience in category management, merchandising, purchasing and e‑commerce operations within a fast‑growing Sri Lankan conglomerate.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in developing strategies to grow category sales and expand the product assortment.
• Build and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors.
• Monitor product availability, inventory levels and manage out‑of‑stock or overstock situations.
• Conduct market and competitor research to support pricing, promotions and merchandising decisions.
• Coordinate with internal teams to ensure smooth execution of category initiatives.
• Identify short‑expiry and slow‑moving items and implement timely promotions, markdowns or clearance activities.

Required profile

• 1–2 years of experience in FMCG, e‑commerce, retail or a related field.
• Degree in Management, Marketing, Supply Chain Management or a relevant professional qualification (e.g., CIM, SLIM).
• Proactive attitude with strong communication, negotiation and analytical abilities.
• Ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines.
