ICT Intern – Technical Support & Development

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a motivated ICT Intern to support its IT operations in Colombo. The internship offers hands‑on experience in technical support, system maintenance, network management, software development and data management while working under the supervision of senior ICT staff.

Key responsibilities

• Troubleshoot hardware, software and network issues and provide end‑user support.
• Monitor system reliability, manage backups, and assist with disaster‑recovery planning.
• Diagnose connectivity problems, install and label network equipment, and coordinate with service providers.
• Participate in requirement gathering, code reviews, application testing and automation scripting.
• Organise databases, migrate data to cloud storage and support data‑preparation activities.
• Prepare reports, manage documentation, track tickets and maintain IT asset inventory.

Required profile

• Recent graduate or final‑year undergraduate in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related field.
• Experience in LAN/WAN environments and network/desktop support.
• Fluency in English and Sinhalese or Tamil; knowledge of all three languages is a plus.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaborate effectively in a team.
