Automation Engineer – 2‑Year Fixed‑Term Contract

About the role

Michelin is seeking an Automation Engineer for a two‑year fixed‑term contract to support the design, implementation and validation of automated equipment across its production sites. The role combines technical expertise in PLCs, HMIs, motion control and robotics with project leadership to ensure robust, compliant solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Implement the group’s quality system, including risk analyses, FMEA, design reviews and non‑conformance handling.
• Conduct feasibility studies with validated CDCs, evaluating cost, schedule, risk and functional criteria.
• Develop and monitor action plans for risk management using calculations, simulations and testing.
• Design solutions in collaboration with cross‑functional business lines.
• Obtain validations (CI, RF, RC) after equipment realization, installation, start‑up and development.
• Maintain up‑to‑date records for OTG‑OTS availability, releases, evolution requests, non‑conformities and obsolescence compliance.
• Demonstrate equipment homologation, qualification and industrial robustness.
• Process intellectual property, including filing necessary patents.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in automation/electrical engineering, preferably in a project‑lead or support role.
• Proven leadership, project management and teamwork abilities.
• Strong understanding of industry trends, regulations and standards.

Required skills

• PLC programming (Rockwell Allen‑Bradley, Siemens).
• HMI configuration and communication (Rockwell).
• Variable Frequency Drives and Motion Control technologies (Rockwell, Siemens, Control Techniques).
• Robotics maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint, Teams).
