Assistant Waiter/Waitress – Full‑time Hospitality Role

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Assistant Waiter/Waitress to join the restaurant team at Otherland Hotels in Galle. This full‑time, on‑site position supports the dining and bar areas by delivering attentive service that reflects the brand’s experience‑first philosophy.

Key responsibilities

• Greet guests, present menus and take food and beverage orders accurately.
• Set up, clear and reset tables, ensuring a clean and organized dining environment.
• Coordinate with kitchen and bar staff to relay orders and monitor timing of service.
• Assist with basic billing, point‑of‑sale transactions and handling payments.
• Maintain hygiene and safety standards, including proper food handling and sanitation.
• Support special events, functions and any additional service needs as required.

Required profile

• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Previous experience in a restaurant, café, bar or hotel service environment is preferred.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
• Attention to detail, reliability and a guest‑focused attitude.
• Basic knowledge of food preparation and willingness to liaise with kitchen staff.

Required skills

• Familiarity with point‑of‑sale (POS) systems for order entry and payment processing.
