Senior Geotechnical Engineer

About the role

The Senior Geotechnical Engineer will lead geotechnical investigations for construction and infrastructure projects based in Colombo. This full‑time, on‑site position involves delivering technical guidance, ensuring safe and cost‑effective designs, and mentoring junior staff.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, supervise, and interpret field and laboratory investigations.
• Analyse soil and rock data to assess subsurface conditions and risks.
• Prepare detailed geotechnical reports and recommend foundation and ground‑improvement solutions.
• Review and validate design calculations in collaboration with project managers and structural engineers.
• Support tender preparation and provide technical input on construction‑chemical applications.
• Participate in project meetings, site inspections, and ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil, Geotechnical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Several years of experience in geotechnical design and site‑based work, preferably on large or complex projects.
• Familiarity with regional and international geotechnical design codes and standards.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and technical writing abilities.
• Ability to work on‑site in Colombo, coordinate multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple deadlines.
• Professional registration or eligibility for registration as an engineer is an advantage.
