Head of Media Relations

About the role

We are looking for a Head of Media Relations to lead our press and journalist engagement work across a client roster spanning technology, hospitality, aviation, financial services, healthcare and manufacturing among many others. This senior role requires a strong media network in Sri Lanka, the ability to place stories, defend client reputations under pressure, and mentor a team.

Key responsibilities

• Lead media relations strategy and execution across the agency's client portfolio.
• Build and maintain relationships across print, broadcast, online and trade media in Sri Lanka.
• Oversee press release development, media briefings, press conferences and journalist outreach.
• Act as senior counsel on crisis communications and reputation management.
• Guide trilingual press materials produced in English, Sinhala and Tamil.
• Supervise and mentor PR executives on media strategy and delivery.

Required profile

• 8 to 10 years of experience in media relations, journalism or PR, with client‑facing work in Sri Lanka.
• An established network of journalist and editor contacts across major Sri Lankan outlets.
• Strong writing and editing ability in English; working fluency in Sinhala and Tamil is an advantage.
• Experience managing and mentoring a team.
• Sound judgment under pressure, particularly on crisis and reputation matters.
