Finance Manager / Senior Accountant

About the role

Newton Russell is seeking a hands‑on Finance Manager / Senior Accountant to lead its finance operations from Sri Lanka. The role goes beyond transactional bookkeeping, requiring end‑to‑end ownership of financial records, reporting and cash‑flow management while working directly with senior executives.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain complete accounting records in Xero, ensuring accurate and timely transaction posting.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, including invoice verification, payment scheduling and overdue follow‑up.
• Own the month‑end close process and prepare monthly management accounts, profit & loss, balance sheet and cash‑flow reports.
• Produce budgeting, forecasting and cash‑flow forecasts, highlighting variances and potential issues.
• Support multi‑entity and international accounting, including intercompany reconciliations and multi‑currency transactions.
• Assist payroll processing, employee expense reimbursements and related financial reporting.
• Prepare information for GST, VAT, corporate tax filings and coordinate annual audits.
• Identify and implement financial control improvements and process efficiencies.

Required profile

• CIMA and/or Chartered Accountant qualification.
• Minimum 10 years progressive accounting and finance experience, including 3–5 years post‑qualification.
• Strong practical experience with Xero accounting software.
• Extensive experience in month‑end close, accounts payable/receivable and financial reporting.
• Proven ability to work independently and communicate with senior management.
• High attention to detail, integrity and confidentiality.
