UX Designer - Research-Led (Ultimo)

About the role

IGT1, an offshore technology and talent solutions company based in Port City, Colombo, is hiring a UX Designer who leads the research side of its design practice. The role sits within the team of an international client, Ultimo, a provider of Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) software. You will plan studies, run usability tests and turn insights into product direction, while helping shape how AI makes research faster and more scalable.

Key responsibilities

• Lead user research: interviews, contextual inquiries, field studies and moderated and unmoderated usability testing.
• Design and run research plans covering recruitment, study design, scripts, tasks and analysis.
• Turn qualitative and quantitative findings into insights, customer journeys, opportunities and recommendations.
• Validate concepts, designs and prototypes early, then measure success through post-release research.
• Use AI for transcription, tagging, clustering, synthesis, interview preparation and test design, while checking outputs and protecting participant privacy.
• Build a scalable research practice with templates, repositories, standards and shared ways of working.
• Work with product owners, developers and designers in an agile environment to represent the user's voice.

Required profile

• 3+ years in UX Research or UX Design with a strong research focus.
• Bachelor's in HCI, UX Design, Interaction Design, Design Research or a related field; equivalent practical experience considered.
• Fluent English, written and spoken.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of research methods and prototyping, including Figma.
• Practical experience with AI tools for research workflows.
• Understanding of research ethics, informed consent, accessibility and GDPR.
• Excellent communication and storytelling skills.
