Tax Manager

About the role

We are seeking a Tax Manager to join Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts, Sri Lanka’s largest hotel owner. Reporting to the Head of Tax – Leisure Group, you will oversee tax compliance, governance and planning across our portfolio of hotels and resorts in Sri Lanka and the Maldives.

Key responsibilities

• Manage direct and indirect tax compliance for the Leisure Group.
• Review tax computations, statutory filings and accounting balances for accuracy and timeliness.
• Coordinate tax audits, assessments, objections, appeals and regulatory inquiries.
• Identify tax risks and implement mitigation and governance measures.
• Analyse commercial agreements, overseas remittances, investments and business transactions from a tax perspective.
• Support transfer‑pricing compliance and approved tax‑planning initiatives.
• Liaise with tax authorities, external auditors, legal advisors and tax consultants.
• Provide technical tax guidance and training to finance teams and business units.
• Supervise and develop members of the Tax team while driving continuous improvement in reporting and compliance processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
• Professional qualification such as CA, ACCA or CIMA.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in tax management or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of Sri Lankan and international tax regulations, tax compliance and tax risk management.
• Experience with ERP systems; familiarity with SAP and OPERA is an advantage.
• Excellent analytical, communication, stakeholder‑management and leadership abilities.
