Software Development Manager

About the role

H2O.ai is looking for a high‑impact Manager of Software Development to lead a talented engineering team in Sri Lanka. You will combine technical leadership with people management to deliver scalable, data‑intensive AI applications for global customers.

Key responsibilities

• Define and prioritize the automation roadmap in partnership with engineering leadership.
• Hire, onboard, and develop a high‑performing team across multiple product streams.
• Guide design, development, and deployment of scalable services using Kubernetes, Go, Python, Protobuf, gRPC and REST APIs.
• Optimize processing of large datasets and implement real‑time streaming solutions with Kafka.
• Manage Helm‑based deployments and ensure robust CI/CD practices.
• Debug, test, and maintain high code quality and reliability.
• Collaborate with product, QA, platform and data engineering teams, representing the engineering group in architecture discussions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of software development experience, including leadership of engineering teams.
• Proven ability to mentor engineers and drive technical excellence.
