Senior/Lead Applied AI Engineer

About the role

IFS Loops, an IFS company, is looking for a Senior/Lead Applied AI Engineer to architect, build and operate production-grade AI Agents and Multi-Agent systems that turn complex enterprise workflows into autonomous agent logic. The role covers agent design, process translation and technical leadership across the agent delivery lifecycle, working with platform and sustaining teams.

Key responsibilities

• Translate business processes and sourcing workflows into autonomous AI agent logic, including multi-agent systems with defined boundaries, tool contracts, memory strategy and orchestration flows.
• Configure and develop agents to automate purchasing, vendor management and approval processes, applying MCP-style tool interoperability patterns.
• Design prompting strategies (templates, system constraints, guardrails, output schemas, versioning) and test agent logic with scripting, automated testing and versioned releases.
• Optimize agent performance, scalability, reliability and cost/latency trade-offs in production with AI engineers.
• Map end-to-end sourcing and purchasing processes with SMEs, align agent behavior with policies and business rules, and write technical documentation, decision logs and runbooks.
• Identify workflow risks and edge cases early and propose mitigations such as approvals, fallbacks and escalation paths.
• Partner with Implementation and Sustaining Engineering, Product and Platform teams, and support customers through validation, training and feedback.
• Lead technical discussions, set implementation standards and mentor other engineers.

Required profile

• 5+ years in software engineering and/or applied AI engineering, with 1-2 years focused on Generative AI, Agentic AI and LLM-based systems in production.
• Preferred exposure to supply chain, asset management, procurement and FSM domains.
• Experience translating ambiguous business goals into technical architectures and delivery plans, and mentoring others.
• Track record of reusable patterns, testing, documentation and operational readiness.

Required skills

• Strong software development or scripting (Python, JavaScript or equivalent).
• Understanding of enterprise integrations, data flow and automation logic.
• Preferred: MCP/A2A and agent interoperability standards, LangChain/LangGraph, and safety/security practices for agentic systems.
