Senior Technical Lead – Python

About the role

Gapstars is looking for a Senior Technical Lead to join its backend team. You will work on a mature Django platform, delivering new features and maintaining the health of the codebase while using modern, AI‑assisted development practices.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain scalable APIs and services with Python, Django and Django REST Framework.
• Work with core infrastructure components such as PostgreSQL, AWS, Kubernetes and Docker.
• Write high‑quality, well‑tested code and champion test‑driven development.
• Leverage AI‑assisted coding tools to improve productivity and code quality.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to translate vision into technical solutions.
• Spend roughly 50% of time on maintenance, non‑user‑facing improvements, and architectural discussions.

Required profile

• 7+ years of backend software development experience.
• Strong proficiency in Python and deep knowledge of its ecosystem.
• Extensive hands‑on experience with Django and Django REST Framework.
• Solid experience with PostgreSQL.
• Familiarity with Docker, AWS and Kubernetes.
• Startup mindset: self‑starter, bias for action, comfortable wearing multiple hats.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work remotely in a collaborative team.
• Active interest and competence in AI‑assisted development tools.
