Senior Sales Executive – LCL Import & Export Sales

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Sales Executive – LCL Import & Export Sales to join Lanka Shipping & Logistics' Freight Forwarding & Logistics team. This specialist field‑sales role focuses on LCL import and export business, driving new customer acquisition and business development.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and acquire new customers with regular LCL import and export requirements.
• Develop new business through field visits, prospecting, referrals, networking and market intelligence.
• Identify new LCL trade lanes and potential customer segments.
• Build and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified LCL opportunities.
• Convert prospects into active and recurring customers.
• Develop new LCL import customers and increase shipment volumes.
• Understand customer cargo requirements, origins, destinations, frequency and shipment volumes.
• Acquire new exporters/importers with regular LCL shipment requirements.
• Convert export enquiries into actual shipments and recurring business.

Required profile

• Minimum 2‑5 years of relevant experience in freight forwarding or logistics sales with strong LCL exposure.
• Diploma, Higher Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Freight Forwarding, Supply Chain Management, Business Management, Marketing or a related field (advantage).
• Proven experience in LCL Import and Export Sales.
• Demonstrable track record in new customer acquisition and business development.
• Strong field‑sales and prospecting capabilities.
• Good knowledge of LCL consolidation and international freight forwarding.
• Strong commercial awareness and understanding of gross profit and profitability.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to independently manage a sales territory and customer portfolio.
• Strong follow‑up, persuasion and closing skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and achieve sales targets.
• Good knowledge of CRM systems and sales reporting (advantage).
