Intermediate Tax and Business Services Accountant

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Intermediate Tax and Business Services Accountant to join our fast‑growing Australian Tax & Accounting practice within a global BPO environment. The role focuses on delivering tax and accounting services for Australian SMEs and Self‑Managed Super Funds (SMSFs), ensuring compliance with ATO regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare income tax returns, Business Activity Statements (BAS) and Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) for individuals, partnerships, trusts, companies, SME groups and SMSFs in accordance with Australian tax legislation.
• Draft annual financial statements, balance sheets, profit & loss reports and trial balances for Australian business entities.
• Execute end‑to‑end accounting, reporting and statutory compliance for SMSFs.
• Support senior stakeholders and Australian on‑shore teams with tax technical queries, transaction account reviews and ongoing compliance.
• Maintain accurate accounting records and manage client data across standard Australian accounting platforms.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of hands‑on experience in Australian taxation, accounting and business services within a public practice, shared services or BPO setting.
• CA or CPA Australia qualification (or in the final stages of completion).
• Excellent written and spoken English, strong analytical abilities and a client‑focused attitude.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Australian accounting software such as Xero, MYOB, Reckon, HandiSoft, Class Super or HandiTax.
• Experience preparing financial statements, balance sheets, profit & loss reports and trial balances for Australian entities.
• Knowledge of ATO compliance requirements and SMSF statutory obligations.
