Human Resources Intern

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is offering a Human Resources internship in Colombo. The role supports the HR Unit with administrative and communication tasks while providing exposure to HR processes in a multicultural UN environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide administrative support such as filing, scanning and compiling HR documents.
• Assist in digitalising and archiving personnel files according to IOM guidelines.
• Draft HR communication materials including newsletters, leaflets, flyers, presentations and infographics.
• Support the National HR Officer with various HR functions as needed.
• Collaborate with team members and learn across different HR areas.
• Perform any other duties assigned within the intern’s capacity.

Required profile

• Graduate or final‑year undergraduate in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Law or a related field.
• Fluency in English and Sinhalese or Tamil (all three languages advantageous).

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
• Ability to create leaflets, flyers, presentations and infographics using standard design tools.
• Understanding of basic HR functions and inclusive, culturally‑sensitive approaches.
• Capability to work independently with minimal supervision.
