Electrical Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to lead the engineering function of a renewable energy and biochar production facility in Monaragala. The plant converts agricultural residues into biochar and generates electricity via syngas, operating 24/7. You will be responsible for the electrical systems that keep power generation and production running safely and reliably.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage all electrical engineering activities across the renewable energy facility.
• Ensure reliable operation and maintenance of generators, power distribution, and related electrical equipment.
• Oversee preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and breakdown management.
• Manage generator synchronization, load sharing, and electrical change‑over processes.
• Develop and maintain safe operating procedures for grid, diesel, and syngas generation modes.
• Liaise with CEB for documentation, approvals, and permits.
• Ensure compliance with electrical safety, isolation, and permit‑to‑work requirements.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the engineering team.
• Support commissioning, plant expansion, and future renewable energy projects.

Required profile

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical & Electronic Engineering (mandatory).
• Minimum 5 years of hands‑on industrial engineering experience.
• Strong exposure to power‑generation systems, generators, and electrical distribution.
• Experience with renewable energy, biomass, syngas, or gas‑engine generators is highly preferred.
• Leadership and team‑management capabilities.
• Candidates from Monaragala or surrounding areas are strongly preferred.
