Associate Technical Lead – Data Engineering

About the role

Villvay is seeking an Associate Technical Lead to drive data engineering initiatives for its B2B eCommerce clients. The role blends hands‑on pipeline development with team leadership and client‑facing responsibilities, ensuring high‑quality, reliable data solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines, dimensional models and lakehouse/warehouse architectures.
• Own end‑to‑end delivery of data engineering workstreams, from architecture decisions to production reliability.
• Implement Medallion (Bronze/Silver/Gold) lakehouse patterns, ensuring pipelines are restartable, retryable, observable and auditable with clear data lineage.
• Establish data quality checks, monitoring and alerting to catch issues at source.
• Lead, mentor and review the work of other data engineers, planning and allocating tasks.
• Serve as the primary technical contact for client stakeholders, managing expectations and reporting progress, risks and delivery status.
• Translate business questions into engineering priorities and make cost‑effective infrastructure decisions.
• Document data flows, architecture and technical decisions for handover and internal knowledge continuity.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Engineering or a related field.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Passion for mentoring team members and fostering a collaborative environment.
• Ability to set technical direction while balancing client expectations.
